The Vale Housing Association opened its first non-sheltered housing social scheme for the over 55s at a new development in Keys Court, Banbury on 30 June. Cherwell District Council contributed a £225,000 grant to help fund the scheme.
Cherwell District Council threw its support behind a proposed eco town at Middleton Cheney this week. But the controversial proposal isn't a government initiative. Instead it's the idea of teachers at Chenderit School, who were keen for their pupils to learn about town development, government decision making, planning policy and the power of persuasion.

Development company P3Eco has expressed interest in creating proposals for an eco settlement at Cherwell District Council's promoted site to the north west of Bicester. Devised as an alternative to the eco town proposed for Weston Otmoor, the NW Bicester site will provide 5,000 high specification eco homes and 5,000 jobs for local people if the Government decides it should go ahead.
Designers of Cherwell District Council's new Spiceball sports centre in Banbury are taking a flutter on protecting local wildlife. As part of the contract for the development, construction firm Kier Moss is installing bat tubes and swift bricks which will provide nests and roosts for the creatures living nearby.
